When you search for domain availability, if the domain available, the status will be “available” if the domain is not available, the status will be “registered” some of the registrars will show "backorder" as to status with book now link but "backorder" is not domain registration. it's a kind of advance booking if the domain's current owners left the domains without renewing it may come to you. even “backorder” booking is also not sure, if someone has booked a backorder before you, it automatically goes to that account only, very fewer chances of getting registered domain names by backorder booking.
